As part of our commitment to connect local artisans with community we are hosting a series of Meet the Maker days at our Port Douglas shopfront, incorporating cultural experience workshops
Mondays in September & October (2019)
Meet with Kuku Yalanji artisan Ngadijina, Delissa Walker from 10am to 5pm who will be our artist in residence.
Find out more about local Kuku Yalanji culture, ask questions about weaving and see if you would like to book in and experience a weaving workshop, these will be happening 2-4pm on Mondays.
Wednesdays in September 2019
From 10am to 5pm, meet with Lia Pa'apa'a of Plant Based Native. Lia is a weaver, mother and community based artist living in Cairns. Lia incorporates weaving techniques from her across her ancestry from the Pacific Islands and the Luiseño people of southern California. Lia has been lucky to learn from her family and community a variety of weaving techniques that have inspired her to create unique pieces of jewellery, baby rattles, baskets and more!
