This is a one-of-a-kindness project to support senior students at Xavier Catholic College, a school at Wurrumiyanga (Bathurst Island), Tiwi Islands. Guided by their art teacher, students have studied design concepts and learnt to screen print. Starwin is working in collaboration with the school, so the students can readily sell them, with full proceeds going to the students to help raise funds for their graduation and future career pathways. (Starwin is only collecting 10% to cover transaction costs & freight.) Many of the artists have been a part of our Tiwi Youth Girls Leadership program and we aim to continue our support of their career pathway.

Tiwi Skins - R. Poantimilui
I wanted to make an artwork that represented life in the Tiwi Islands. Two things that are incredibly important to us are football and our skin groups. Skin groups tell us who we can and cannot partner with after we hit puberty. I also put them on a football as footballs are made of leather
Colour: Black bags with various ink colours
Note - students modelling the bags are not always the artist.
