Our vision is to invest in the next generation and support women to do what they love, where they love. With renowned artists in her family from East Arnhem and Groote Eylandt, Louise joined Starwin in 22 via the Youthworx NT program and at 20 years of age, she is keen to learn, and grow her own creative enterprise. This is the third painting in her first series, drawing on knowledge passed on from elder generations.
Artists Story
The story behind this painting is that my grandfather was very close to all his animals that he had painted throughout the years he had lived, and these are my favourite that he has painted in his past life. I wanted to remake and take on what he had done and pass it down the bloodline. My grandfather Gerald Blitner used a lot of colours and cross-hatching (in our tribe we don’t use dot painting).
