Aboriginal Mats - Ningaloo Whale Shark
SIZE: 2.7m x 1.8m
HELP SUPPORT CLEAN OCEANS WITH THIS NEW RECYCLED PLASTIC MAT INFLUENCED BY WHALE SHARKS.
We've collaborated with amazing environmentally sustainable Western Australian lifestyle brand, Ningaloo Swimwear, to bring this beautiful whale shark pattern in blues to life in a recycled outdoor rug. Ningaloo is an Aboriginal name meaning "high land off deep water". Inspiration is drawn from the incredible crystalline deepwater Ningaloo Reef in the Indian Ocean to introduce, the Ningaloo Whale Shark design.
The Ningaloo Reef is a World Heritage-listed part of the northern Western Australian Coast. It is home to over 500 species of tropical fish and also the only place where the largest fish in the planet, the whale sharks, visit every year. These gentle giants travel through the Ningaloo Reef in large groups each year between March and August.
To help secure the conservation of the Reef and the incredible animals that inhabit it throughout the year, youth are being educated through programs that are run across the Ningaloo area. These initiatives to keep our oceans healthy are important to us, which is why our collaboration with Ningaloo Swimwear promotes the recycling of plastic. Recycling plastic into new life prevents it from entering our precious waterways and helps preserve aquatic ecosystems, like the Ningaloo Reef. This new beauty is made with our innovated recycled plastic created from 95% repurposed polypropylene, allowing you to shop sustainably.
We also donate 10% of each mat sold to the ECOCEAN - A globally recognised not-for-profit organisation founded by biologist Brad Norman. It is based in Western Australia and works towards scientific research, education, and conservation of the threatened whale shark species and marine environment.
The Ningaloo makes for the ideal outdoor mat on picnics, camping trips, and the beach as it is waterproof, soft and comfortable to walk or sit on and is treated with UV protection to resist against fading.
