Introducing a one-of-a-kindness collection, Turtle Season. Painted by young artist and Starwin team member, Louise Mountford, this collection is exclusive to MK Eco by Starwin. We invite you to invest with us in the next generation and support youth-led enterprises in the top end.
Artwork story:
'This painting is about how my uncle took me out country and teaching me the ways of how to look for turtle eggs. These colours in the painting represent the sand and the ocean on country in Groote Eylandt.'
Artists story:
'My name is Louise Mountford I am an Aboriginal artist. I was brought up at Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
I lived there up until I was 17 years old, my aunty Cindy Busbridge and my uncle TJ Mamarika, took me in when I was eight years old and raised me. They gave me the best education, supporting me to go to boarding school at St Monica’s College in Cairns.
After completing my schooling, I moved to Darwin with my Grandmother Wendy Busbridge and we have been here for five years. I have an amazing dog that’s name Ghost and he is my whole world!
I started working with Starwin in 2022. I have been supported to develop my art practice and now sell my creations at Starwin's shopfront. My career aspiration is to grown my own art enterprise.'
