How would you describe ways that you give back / pay it forward in our community?
My husband and I founded the Balunu Foundation in 2007, a program working with Indigenous, at-risk youth. We have school programs and we also run cultural healing camps. I had been working there for over 10 years before I decided to start Mimmim. I continue to volunteer casually at the Balunu Foundation.
What is your one-of-a-kindness story?
Through my artwork along with their stories I'm finding people are resonating with it. I have had feedback of it helping them emotionally. When something you create from your truth helps anybody it is very humbling and I am glad that something I am so passionate about helps others.
Can you share with us a story of how you care for country?
I like to collaborate with eco conscious and socially responsible businesses. With my products and packaging I also try to keep the materials as eco friendly as possible. In my downtime I like to walk along the beach collecting the rubbish, even the littlest of pieces. By cleaning up the beach I'm not only caring for country, I also get healing while I connect with my country.
