In the Larrakia calendar, September brings the winds for the beginning of build up known as Dalirrgang time and the season when freshwater mangrove (Barringtonia acutangula) fruit signify it is time to hunt Gakkingga (Magpie Goose). It is a time of feasting on the floodplains in the tropical north.
