As part of our Career Pathways initiatives, back in 2019, we collaborated with Cape York Girl Academy to support students to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
This was then on hold in 2020 and the start of this year, but we have been working behind the scenes to make this happen again and last week Verona did her first shift with us as part of her Cert II in Volunteering. This week as she grows in confidence, its a good time to introduce her as part of our Port Douglas team...

Hello!
My name is Verona Platt and I am on my second day of work experience with MK Eco by Starwin in Port Douglas.
I am sharing a little bit of my story with you as part of my activities.
"I'm from Coen, in far north Queensland.
I am a year 11 student at Cape York Girl Academy that is interested in studying criminal law when I finish high school. I am currently volunteering at Starwin Port Douglas.
I came to Starwin to finish off my certificate II in Active Volunteering and to find new experiences that would be more helpful to me in the future. So far I like the space, it's very chill in here."
