We congratulate the teams involved in Dreamtime in Darwin last weekend and to all participating in Sir Doug Nicholls round.
We have been honoured to play a part in supporting the event with gifts from Tiwi women. Thank you Jacinta Tipungwuti, Sandy Punguatji, Regina Kantilla, Frances Portaminni and all the strong women who weave and paint shells for our Starwin Collective. We teamed a basket up with hand painted shells and a gift card by Kiewa Austin-Rioli of Sweet Water Art.
We were so pleased to see the creations of these Tiwi women showcased on the big stage for the incredible game.
We also acknowledge the artwork of Timaya Cunningham being featured on the Essendon Football Club guernseys. Timaya was a participant in our Tiwi Youth Girls Leadership program and an Xavier Catholic College student we sponsored through our Rising Tahs initiative.
It was phenomenal watching My Kind and My People author, Eddie Betts star when Carlton take on Gold Coast Suns, featuring leader Jarrod Harbrow, founder of Harbrow Mentoring who we partner with in far north Queensland.
We also take a moment to commiserate with the family of G. Dhurrkay and Hayden families as August 21st was the 15th anniversary of the passing of the Kangaroos and Dockers star and Yolngu leader. He is dearly loved and sorely missed.
So many connections, so much to celebrate, the game is richer for the involvement on and off the field with Indigenous players, administrators, coaches, fans and families. Mostly let's celebrate, Syd Jackson, a hero.
Thank you Richmond FC for this insightful run-down for the game and the invitation to be a part of something special 💛♥️🖤
