It’s been an exciting few weeks at Starwin Shopfront!

In July we took part in the first ever Indigenous Cultural Showcase at the Royal Darwin Show, sharing a stall with Bima Wear and Pudakul Cultural Tours. We loved being able to showcase some of the beautiful products the Top End has to offer with the Show community.

Thanks to everyone who came and said hi, bought some local products and supported our enterprises or participated in the cultural activities on offer. Some of our best sellers included the Recycled Aboriginal Mats, Alperstein Designs Salad Servers and stunning fabrics from Babarra Maningrida and Bima Wear Tiwi Islands, all available in store or via our online store.

Thanks also to Territory FM and ABC Darwin for their interviews and sharing our stories.

The Bima Wear ladies previewed their new line of clothing in vibrant and unique Tiwi designs. You can check out their new range at the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair from 11-13 August and then in Starwin Shopfront in coming weeks!

The excitement continues this week as we head to the Smile a Mile Toy Library on Thursday 3 August to celebrate Aboriginal Children’s Day. Little ones can learn how to paint on mud mussel shells with Tiwi ladies Anne-Marie and Helen Puruntatameri. And we’ll have books, toys and children’s clothing for sale. Come down and say hi!

Still to come this month is Starwin Shopfront’s 4th birthday celebration (9 August), a Crafternoon for decorating shells (17 August) and Storytime at Starwin with Aunty Rosie (24 August).

As always, we’d love to you to pop into the store and say hi to Karina, Martha, Mel or Ameina.

We have a supply team of 30+ social and community enterprises offering unique cultural and Australian-made products.

Help us spread our campaign of #OneOfAKindness
