The Ripple Effect
We are committed to investing in the next generation - providing pathways for young leaders. Our each one, teach one philosophy, combined with our one-of-a-kindness collective model has led to unmatched economic and employment outcomes, including previously operating two youth-led shopfronts in Darwin & Port Douglas. We are grateful for our community who have contributed to these success stories & many more magical moments.
Djamarlia
Djamarlia joined our team in 22 as the first participant in the Career Trackers NT program. A year 12 graduate, we are supporting Djamarlia with her Bachelor of Law studies at CDU. We mentored Deejay to lead Storytime workshops & event bookings and she referred her to additional work opportunities, including at Sealink NT, Darwin City Libraries and now with NT Government.
Louise
With renowned artists in her family from Groote Eylandt, Louise joined Starwin in 22 via the Youthworx NT program. Working with us in a casual capacity, Louise has been supported to grow her own creative enterprise. Louise now sells her artwork via Starwin, whilst working fulltime as a ranger on Groote Eylandt.
Women's Business Circles
In 2021 we successfully hosted nine circle sessions for women from our collective. The circles were a chance to connect, create and celebrate and led to new collaborations and the launch of new enterprises like Infant Massage by Ebonie & collaborations like Mimmim Design x Catherine Manuell Design.
Keeping Culture Strong: Wangatunga
In 2021 the Wangatunga Women's group expressed their dream to invest in the next generation. We supported them to deliver two Artists in Schools projects, one for Tiwi Youth Girls at Xavier Catholic College and for Ludmilla Primary School FaFT.
Sharing the Starwin Spirit
Thanks again for your help and organising the gifts last minute for us. The event was a success and the gifts were well received, the delegates loved what you had put together.

I love this shop beautiful items and so good for your skin and soul. Highly recommend their products. Especially the Walyara Midge Ri, it is awesome stops the redness swelling and itch straight away the best product I've ever used for mozzie bites. Kaizi's shampoo and soap bars are wonderful, kind to your skin and hair, leaves it soft and moisturised and they are environmentally friendly. Will be back for more. Customer service is great, friendly and staff go the extra mile to help you. :)

My family and I did a weaving workshop which was hosted here at the Starwin giftshop. Karina, the founder, was so helpful and kind, coordinating with me by email over a month in advance to find a suitable time (I was really keen to do the workshop!) and even so kind as to offer us the workshop on a day that wouldn't usually be scheduled, because we couldn't make the usual one. The workshop itself, held by Sharniqua (founder of her weaving collection 'Retelling Country' which are stocked in the giftshop), unfolded so organically and in a way that allowed us all to chat, ask questions, learn and share together in a familial way, even with a few language barriers in the group, it felt super comfortable. She offered us some material to take home so we could finish (which I did!). Thanks again to Sharniqua and the Starwin team for giving us a wonderful memory in Darwin!

We recently engaged with Karina at Starwin to incorporate Indigenous herbs into our children's nutrition learning program, and the experience has been exceptional. From the start, the customer service was impeccable. She was knowledgeable and patient to assist us in selecting the right herbs to complement our curriculum. Karina's commitment didn’t end with the sale; she followed up consistently to ensure everything was working well, herbs arrived on time and enjoyed by our clients and children in their care. This level of dedication and attention to detail is truly commendable. We are immensely grateful for Starwin's services and the positive impact it has had on children's understanding of nutrition and indigenous culture. We highly recommend Starwin to anyone looking to enrich their educational programs with quality, Indigenous herbs and outstanding support. Thank you Karina. We look forward to working with you again.
